Tips on Choosing Your Wedding Flowers & Decor
Choosing your wedding flowers and decor is your opportunity to add colours, textures, and style to the setting of your wedding ceremony and reception. They are also the defining touches captured in the photos you'll always keep to remember your wedding day.
The types of flowers you choose - their colours and textures - all speak to your individual personality and how you see yourself. Some are elegant (e.g. calla lilies) or delicate (e.g. freesia), others are fun loving or whimsical (e.g. gerberas). Still others like to combine these different aspects. It's your day, your look, your style!
When it comes to colours, roses have the widest variety of colours available and year round. Another consideration to keep in mind is that certain types of flowers are more or less expensive at different times of the year. For example, tulips are available (usually just a few colours) year round, but cost more after spring time when they are most abundant. Flowers are also more expensive around certain special occasions like Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, and Christmas due to the high demand around these times.
The only limitations there are are seasonality of certain types of flowers such as peonies, and flowers grown for gardens that aren't cultivated as cut flowers, such as sweet peas. We can, however, always recommend substitutes for you.
When it comes to decor options, there are lots of options for both your wedding ceremony and your wedding reception regardless of whether you're eloping or having 50+ people joining you. From simple rock candle holders to larger floral arrangements, West Coast to tropical, and everything in between, we're here to work out the details for your dream wedding.
In general, we love to see photos you've found of flowers or styles that you like so that we can see what you are envisioning. We look forward to working with you in developing that vision for your wedding day!
